Bridget and Christian Ziegler, who were two of the brightest stars of Republican Party before they were lynched by the liberal media outlets and those who control a deep state corrupt political system have brought forth a lawsuit against the City of Sarasota and two City of Sarasota Police Department detectives.

The lawsuit says the Ziegler’s were deprived of due process and suffered lasting harm to their family, careers, and reputation. The lawsuit was filed before the staus of limitation was to expire to file the lawsuit in U.S Federal Court concerning the Ziegler's Constitutional rights being violated in 2023.

Byrd

In 2023., Christian Ziegler was alleged to be involved with criminal actions, which Ziegler's attorney Derick Byrd stated; "On day one, we said that Mr. Ziegler was completely innocent. We asked everyone not to rush to judgement and reminded everyone to presume Mr. Ziegler innocent - as the Constitution instructs. Unfortunately, many did not award that courtesy to Mr. Ziegler, damaging his family, career, and reputation throughout this process."

Barfield

Byrd's "many" was centered around Michael Barfield, who is the 68 CONVIVTED felon, three-time State and Federal inmate and Hit Man of the local UNI Party. Barfield, who with leaked
information from the SPD obtained from classified illegally filed affidavits began the "rush to judgment" from his new found perch at The Florida Trident, which ater getting bounced fron FROM thw Florida ACLU .

Barfield not only used leaked information to defame Christian Ziegler on bogus criminal allegations but also was leaked salacious information on Christian and Bridget Ziegler private life, completely unrelated to to the alleged Christian Ziegler crime. Barfield said, "the leaks came from unnamed sources close to the investigation." Who was closer to the investigation than the SPD.

Sarelson

Matt Sarelson, who is another Ziegler attorney stated the following in 2023 concerning Barfield seeking more information on the Ziegler's private life be released, "For reasons that border on the perverse and the obscene, Michael Barfield—a well-known Democratic operative, disbarred attorney, and felon— and various news outlets—not considered fair and balanced towards prominent Republicans or conservatives—appear to want everything on this phone. Literally everything. The idea that this is what the legislature had in mind when it enacted Florida’s Public Records Act is comical on its face."

The Ziegler’s federal lawsuit was filed on 10/31/2025 with the Ziegler’s accusing the Sarasota Police Department and two detectives, Angela Cox and Maria Llovio, of “deliberate and egregious violations” of their Fourth, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

The Ziegler’s are looking for "complete redress for what they state are unconstitutional abuses, including compensatory and punitive damages, as well as accountability to prevent future violations of citizens' fundamental rights.”

The lawsuit states that Cox and Llovio requested an excessively overbroad search warrant on Christian Ziegler's phone records and intentionally including deeply personal marital communications.

The Ziegler’s accuse Cox and Llovio of including false and misleading information in their affidavits for search warrants, while excluding “critical exculpatory evidence" from local Circuit Judge Thomas Krug.

The Ziegler’s alleged that Cox and Llovio requested an excessively overbroad search warrant on Christian Ziegler's phone records and intentionally including deeply personal marital communication.

That salacious information found its way from unknown sources within the SPD to those out to take out the Ziegler’s politically and financially.

Ziegler's lawsuit also questions the SPD's existing method of downloading every record from seized phones not related to the alleged crimes committed.

This lawsuit raises concerns that officers like Cox, Llovio, and others at SPD might continue to access information from improperly filed affidavits, which include private and confidential details unrelated to current investigations.

This practice if it is allowed to continue violates the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable searches and seizures by SPD law enforcement.

The lawsuit claims that, unlike most law enforcement agencies, the SPD lacks a "taint team" to ensure other personnel do not access confidential or sensitive information during material
extraction.

Judge Carroll

The validity of the Ziegler’s lawsuit on 10/31/25 is backed up and fortified on 7/1/23 by a ruling of local Judge Hunter Carroll. The Carroll ruling concerns three search warrants brough forth by SPD detectives Cox and Llovio.

On 7/1/23 Judge Carroll ruled that three SPD search warrants concerning Christian Ziegler's IPhone, Ziegler's Google account and his Meta Instagram data amid rape allegations were illegal and violated Ziegler’s constitutional rights.

First, all searches and seizures must be reasonable, which they were not. Second, a warrant requires properly established probable cause and a clearly defined scope, neither of which
occurred.

These particularity requirement stands as a bar to exploratory searches by officers armed with a general warrant.

A warrant is required to provide an adequate description of the items or locations to be searched for and seized, which Cox and Llovio warrants were not.

Carroll compared the seizure of Ziegler's phone records to King George III searching homes during the American Revolution. He said searching someone's phone is "functionally the
same" as searching someone's house, as cell phones can "contain a person's entire life story.

Judge Carroll further ruled that law enforcement’s actions with respect to those three illegal warrants were patently erroneous, constitutionally intolerable and violated Ziegler's Fourth
Amendment rights.

For example, SPD law enforcement officers Cox and Llovio rifled through Ziegler’s 250,000+ photographs and 30,000+ videos, seizing an indeterminant amount despite concluding they showed no evidence of a crime.

Cox and Llovio also seized more than 1,200 text communications between Ziegler and his wife, most of which transpired two years before the alleged criminal incident arose on October 2, 2023.

Law enforcement also seized other personal information about Ziegler with no apparent nexus to the crime investigated. Most of these communications were unrelated to the crime under investigation.

The Ziegler's lawsuit claims the City of Sarasota and SPD detective’s Cox and Llovo were in clear violations of precepts of the Ziegler’s 4th, 5th and 14th Constitutional Amendment rights.
